“He’s making a list and checking it twice”.
At least that what the song says. This is a habit I have had to develop. If it is not on the list chances are it will not happen. I forget the simplest things because I have 7 schedules to keep up with. Between, my husband and 5 kids I am truly the CEO and gatekeeper for all things in this house as well as our rental property. I will leave the cats out of this because they are probably the least amount of maintenance, except for our 16 year old cat Thelma, who meows if her food is too cold….really she meows for no reason in particular.
Make a list of your tasks the day before. I mean all the way down to the minimum thing that you think is unimportant. Because chances are at 11:23 p.m. at night…it will be. I always say the night before. Why? Because in the morning we are so rushed to get out the door, to appointments and errands that we will forget EVERYTHING included our shoes…or to do our hair…or to take meat out the freezer. If someone forgets that morning it is there responsibility to add it to my planner. I don’t care how you do it, sticky note, crayon whatever, but if it ain’t on the list, it ain’t getting done.
Get your family into that habit and also make that a habit for your business.
